Jamie King is in his tenth season as head squash coach and director of racquet sports at Hamilton College. Hamilton's mens and womens squash teams have been among the top 20 teams in the United States Collegiate Squash Rankings. King's Hamilton team received the prestigious Team Sportsmanship Trophy at the 2008 CSA team championships. The award is voted on by the coaches and is presented to the team that best displayed the highest level of sportsmanship during the season. King is the first individual to receive the award as a player (as captain of the 1984 Williams College team) and as a coach. King's Hamilton teams have won a total of 85 matches and have won 10 or more matches in each of the past five seasons. The Continentals earned the 2002 Bill Barhite Award, which goes to the most improved team in the CSA. Prior to his arrival at Hamilton, King served as assistant coach for the men's and women's squash teams and was the men's tennis coach at Vassar College. He also coached tennis at Marist College and was racquets director at Poughkeepsie Tennis Club. King graduated from Williams College with a bachelor's degree in political science and American studies. He played varsity squash, tennis and soccer at Williams. King was the squash team captain for two seasons. When he was a senior, Williams put together a 20-2 record and was ranked third in the nation. He holds a master's degree in sociolgy of sport from Skidmore College. |

1998-1999 Head Men’s Tennis Coach, Vassar College. One year assignment
covering for Head Coach while on sabbatical. Team finished 14th in Northeast Region
Division III rankings, marking the highest ranking in the history of the program. Ran ITA Regional Championship and the ECAC which included 20 teams at two sites. Led team on Spring Trip to Hilton Head where team competed in four matches, daily practice, and planned activities.
1997-1998 Head Women’s Tennis Coach, Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Coached successful Division I women’s team competing in its first MAAC season and Rolex regional championship. In addition to all facets of coaching, responsibilities included nationwide recruiting and awarding of athletic scholarships. Established effective relationships with Admissions and Financial Aid Officers in developing optimal packages for desired candidates.
1997-1999 Assistant Men’s/Women’s Squash Coach, Vassar College,
Poughkeepsie, NY. Helped lead the teams to above .500 records for both seasons and was instrumental in dramatically improving the women’s ranking from 24th place to 12th. Solely coached both teams including 4 hours of daily practice and 1.5 hour Physical Education class while Head Coach was on medical leave. Responsibilities included taking men’s and/or women’s teams to overnight competition. Successfully directed the New York State Championships at Vassar which included 10 colleges.

EXPERIENCE: 1998-2000 Racquets Director, Poughkeepsie Tennis Club, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Tennis and Squash program responsibilities include creating and running club tournaments and social events, private, semi-private, and group lessons/clinics to adults and juniors. Hire, coordinate and supervise a staff of three assistants. Established and maintain a profitable full service Pro Shop for the club membership. This includes negotiating vendor contracts with Wilson, Prince and Dunlop as well as other industry suppliers.

Organized and led many women’s/men’s group clinics. Ran successful women’s tennis camp. Coached USTA teams, and led junior programs from peewee to high school (age 4-18).

private and group lessons to adults/juniors, traveled and coached nationally ranked juniors at USSRA national junior tournaments, organized and ran USSRA tournaments, established women’s program.
