Sightseeing in Liverpool

World Heritage Site

Liverpool's waterfront is a designated World Heritage Site, putting it on a par with the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China. The accolade was granted by UNESCO in July 2004. The city's bid was centred on Liverpool as a Maritime Mercantile city and reflected the city's significance as a commercial port at the time of Britain's greatest global influence. The area covered includes the waterfront, the commercial district, an area of warehouses and merchants' houses around Duke Street, and the cultural quarter around William Brown Street. The site includes the Pier Head, with world-renowned buildings and historic docks such as Stanley Dock, Waterloo and Wapping. Liverpool

Liverpool Cathedral

As you enter Liverpool Cathedral you truly enter a great space. Sir John Betjeman called it ‘one of the great buildings of the world’. The great space film and audio tour allow visitors to see an HD panoramic film flying over the city and into the Cathedral. The interactive tour takes visitors on a journey of discovery visiting a series of ‘stations’. Visit the vestry tower overlooking the city standing at 331 ft. The Western rooms are available for conference or function hire.

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

The Roman Catholic Cathedral opened in 1967 with its modern, circular design and glorious multi-coloured windows. Dating from the 1930s, the majestic barrel vaults of fine brickwork and granite pillars in the original Lutyens Crypt offer a sharp contrast in architectural styles.
